Dr. Mark Richardson Dental sees many patients who want to refresh their look for a wedding, a graduation, or a career move. While whitening strips are widely available, they may not provide a customized result like professional treatment. If you want a smile that looks natural, you may consider professional options.
Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Staining
Most store-bought products only address extrinsic stains, which is the discoloration on the outer surface caused by coffee or wine. However, as we age, our teeth undergo intrinsic staining, where the inner dentin darkens. To address deeper stains, professional whitening treatments may be recommended. Our cosmetic whitening treatments in London are designed to address both surface and deeper staining.

Matching Dental Restorations
One of the biggest pitfalls of at-home whitening is that the gel does not work on dental work. If you have a crown, a bridge, or a tooth-colored filling, a retail kit will whiten your natural teeth but leave your dental work the same color. We carefully evaluate your existing restorations and create a plan to help achieve a more uniform appearance. Whitening at our office may be done in combination with restoration upgrades, veneers, dental bonding, or other solutions to support a consistent result.
Precise Shade Matching
Very bright shades might seem appealing, but they can sometimes look unnatural. We use professional shade guides to determine the appropriate brightness for your skin tone and eye color. We can also focus on areas that may appear darker than surrounding teeth, helping to support a more even appearance.
